About Trig Point

Founded by Chartered Planners Nicola Drummond (Ness Planning) and Dave Macdonald (Highland Planning), Trig Point brings together many years of experience gained in both local government and private planning consultancy. Trig Point aims to test decision-making to secure fair planning application outcomes, and ensure the planning system works as it should, to deliver development where and when it is most needed.

Trig Point represents a deliberate step away from the traditional planning consultancy model. We focus our full energy on the area which needs  the most careful attention, the Appeal process, the last chance saloon where particular expertise is needed to rescue development and get it over the line. Trig Point combines detailed knowledge of planning policy, law  and procedure with a clear understanding of how planning authorities determine planning applications.

Our aim is simple: to provide a clear, professional and accessible planning appeal service for individuals and businesses seeking independent, confident support following an unfavourable decision. Trig Point works alongside clients to understand their objectives, assess the local authority decision against relevant planning policy and evidence, and present a well-structured appeal that sets out a fair, clear and compelling case for reconsideration.

This is a new venture  but built on long experience, a proven record of success in the appeal system, and a belief that all development deserves a fair hearing and reassessment.
